An idea that breaks an image into layers โ and reassembles it only from a single, precise viewpoint.
Berlin-based artist Semra Sevin (@semrasevin.studio) had an unusual idea: an image would be broken down into multiple layers and printed onto glass ovals, each supported by a matching base. The effect: viewed from a single specific angle, the image resolves perfectly. From any other angle, it shatters into its component parts. The glass ovals were produced at the Glastrix studio and later exhibited as part of the "Beyond Belief" show at Kunsthaus Mitte in Berlin.
Challenge
Exact image registration across multiple overlapping glass ovals, so the artwork resolves only from a single defined viewing angle.
Outcome
Multi-layer glass oval installation exhibited at "Beyond Belief" at Kunsthaus Mitte, Berlin.
