The material in detail
UV printing on mirror glass creates a visual effect that flat glass cannot replicate. Printing translucent on mirror lets the reflection show through, so the design appears to float on the surface — the depth shifting as the viewer moves. Printing with a white underlay gives full opacity. Glastrix uses this technique for window display installations, bar and hotel wall mirrors, signage, and art. What is the difference between printing on glass vs. mirror?
Mirror glass has a reflective silver coating that becomes part of the visual when you print translucently. A transparent UV print on mirror creates a depth and shadow effect not possible on flat glass. For full opacity, Glastrix prints with a white underlay first.
Can you print on mirrors that are already installed?
No — UV flatbed printing requires the mirror to be flat on the press bed. Glastrix prints on mirror glass before installation, then ships it ready to hang or install.
Why use UV print on mirror glass instead of applying vinyl lettering?
Vinyl on mirror peels at edges over time, especially in humid environments like bars and bathrooms. UV ink cures into the glass surface permanently with a 5-year guarantee. Transparent UV print also creates the unique floating shadow effect that vinyl can never replicate.
What is white lettering on mirror glass used for?
Printing white lettering or silhouettes on mirror is one of Glastrix's most popular signage techniques. The white areas are fully opaque; the surrounding mirror reflects the space, making text appear to float. Used by jewellery shops, salons, hotels, and bars.
Is the print visible from both sides of the mirror?
From the front, you see the design on the reflective surface. From the back, the design is visible in reverse. For window or partition installations where both sides matter, discuss the viewing angle with Glastrix before printing.
