Backlit — Microscopy Photography on Glass

Backlit glass print — cellular microscopy photography by @re_joseph, Berlin

A test print for @re_joseph — microscopy shots of intestinal cells, specifically made for backlighting.

Joseph Regan (@re_joseph) wanted to turn microscopic photography into an art installation. The subject: intestinal cells in remarkable colours. For this print, backlighting was not an afterthought — the UV print was applied transparently on glass so that light from behind shines through the image and makes the colours glow. The result was presented on josephreganart.com.

Challenge

Apply UV print transparently on glass so that backlighting produces the full colour effect — without a white underlay that would block the light.

Outcome

Backlit glass print of @re_joseph's microscopy photography — exhibited and published on josephreganart.com.
